MBAAI Visit to the Irish Stock Exchange
Dublin

Printer Friendly VersionBookmark This Page

On Thursday, 06 May 2010 the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) hosted the members of the MBA Association of Ireland in its city centre premises. On arrival the MBAAI's members and guests were treated to a generous sponsored reception and were given of a brief history of the ISE's magnificent premises located in the depths of Dublin's Temple Bar.

The host of the evening, Deirdre Somers (CEO of the ISE) gave a fascinating talk on the ISE's role within the Irish financial services sector as well as the wider European financial services sector. During the course of her seminar talk, Somers explained to the audience how the ISE has evolved to become a leading listing centre for international fund and debt securities while continuing to act as a centre for Irish companies to raise funds for growth and as a focal point of liquidity for trading in Irish equities and the trade reporting of Irish Government bonds. Somers also detailed how the ISE acts an important information services provider to the wider financial community through the dissemination of quality real-time and historical information supporting market integrity and transparency. In terms of a site, the MBAII's visit to the ISE was fascinating as Somer's seminar was thought provoking, engaging and insightful.

The seminar was concluded with a lively questions and answers session with the ISE's CEO fielding questions from the 60+ attendees. The evening finished with drinks and informal networking.
