Event  - Bombardier Aerospace case study – "Staying alive in the new age of Global competition"

Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast, is an integral part of the world's third largest civil aircraft manufacturer and a leader in the commercial and business aircraft markets. With some 5000 employees and a century of aviation experience, Bombardier Belfast is one of the largest aerospace companies in the UK and produces around 10% of NI manufacturing exports.

Since acquiring Short Brothers plc in 1989, Bombardier has invested over £1.4 billion in plant, machinery, facilities, product development and training, which has helped ensure that its UK operation is at the leading edge of aerospace technology. In association with other European companies and universities, Bombardier Aerospace, participates in a range of major UK and European research programmes. www.aero.bombardier.com


Stephen Cowan will host the event on behalf of Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast. He is General Manager of Supply Chain & Hawlmark Fabrication Facility

Stephen has worked in Bombardier Aerospace for 23 years and has held many senior and important posts during his successful career. Stephen was appointed Director Supply Chain in 2005 which has 486 personnel and manages $US560m across 1100 vendors.

Appointed General Manager of Supply Chain & Hawlmark Fabrication Facility in 2008, Stephen is a member of the Bombardier Belfast Leadership & Strategy Board Teams and is involved in several UK committees. He holds an MBA from the University of Ulster and is an active member of the MBA Association of Ireland.

Time: 5.00 p.m Arrive Bombardier Aerospace Belfast, Car Park, Airport Road, Queens Island, & report to security.
5.15 p.m. Depart Car Park (at the latest) by Coach for the canteen for finger buffet
5.45 p.m. Presentation by Stephen Cowan and Q & A session
6.15 p.m. Depart Canteen for Main Factory Tour
7.15 to 7.30 Finish Tour, Board Coach to return to Car Park
